North Shore personal injury lawyers, since 1981.
Jim Poyner founded Poyner & Company in 1981 with a goal to provide quality legal representation to his fellow North Shore residents. He was soon joined by Ken Baxter, and as Poyner Baxter LLP, in addition to maintaining a busy local personal injury practice, the firm developed one of the top class action law practices in Canada. Today Sam Poyner carries on the firm tradition started of providing quality legal representation to accident victims on the North Shore.
Sam focuses his law practice on representing accident victims in their personal injury and ICBC claims. While his clients come from all over the Lower Mainland and Sea to Sky corridor, he takes particular pride in representing his fellow North Shore residents.
Having joined the law firm of Poyner Baxter LLP (now Poyner & Company) following law school, Sam quickly found the firm’s personal injury practice to be an opportunity to provide a meaningful service to local residents. Since then he has gained extensive experience guiding accident victims through all aspects of their personal injury and ICBC claims, from the initial stages right after an accident through to settlement, and if necessary in court.
A common problem that accident victims are faced with is the disadvantage they are at when trying to deal directly with experienced insurance adjusters, who are often trying to pressure accident victims into settling their claims before they are ready. Sam takes great satisfaction in advising his clients of their legal rights and options at every stage of their claim, so that their claim is settled only when it is appropriate to do so, after taking into account their particular circumstances. It is this personal approach that Sam is most proud of in his work at Poyner & Company.
Sam grew up in communities of Lions Bay and West Vancouver, graduating from West Vancouver Senior Secondary School. Growing up on the North Shore, he was heavily involved in athletics, competing in hockey, baseball, ski racing and various other sports. Sam currently lives with his wife in North Vancouver. When not at the office Sam enjoys skiing and hiking in the local mountains, riding his bike, and travelling.
